Note in the Kotel
Note in the Kotel
At the Western Wall in 1983
Stood a man, his face was tired and worn
Deep down, concerned about his only son,
Who was called to serve his country in South Lebanon,
Carefully the man pulled out a piece of paper,
Thought for a moment and then began to write,
Suddenly his heart and pen became as one,
He placed his letter to Hashem out of sight.
Then he turned to me and said I know it might seem strange,
To put a note in a crack in the wall,
But this is what I do when things seem unclear,
And when I feel that troubles might befall,
Put a note in the Kotel, he said to me
I’d like to ask G-d a thing or two.
Put a note in the Kotel it makes me feel warm inside,
Why don’t you sit down and write one too.
Tanya waits in Israel for her family,
Wondering when and if this will come true,
Emotions overwhelming from the warmth of the stones,
Suddenly she knew what she had to do,
Carefully she pulled out a piece of paper,
Thought for a moment and then began to write,
Suddenly her heart and pen became as one,
She placed her letter to Hashem out of sight.
Then she turned to me and said I know it might seem strange,
To put a note in a crack in the wall,
But this is what I do when things seem unclear,
And when I feel that troubles might befall,
Put a note in the Kotel, she said to me
I’d like to ask G-d a thing or two.
Put a note in the Kotel it makes me feel warm inside,
Why don’t you sit down and write one too.
