Apples and Honey

Apples and Honey (Waltzing Matilda – Banjo Paterson, Christina Macpherson)

The first day of Tishrei is called Rosh Hashana

That’s the Jewish New Year for you and me

We’ll go to the synagogue and pray to Hashem

Then we will have apples and honey.

Chorus: Apples and honey, apples and honey

A sweet New Year for all families

We’ll go to the synagogue and pray to Hashem

Then we will have apples and honey.

There are many foods that we eat on the New Year

We ask to be blessed with health and prosperity

The one that I love has the sweetest taste of them all

When you dip the apples in the honey.  Chorus…

We blow the shofar except if it’s the Sabbath day

Let’s all do teshuva , one, two, three,
Then we’ll go home make motzee on the round chollee

Everyone will dip the apples in the honey. Chorus…

Before you know it all our sins are gone

Inscribe us for a good life says our family

Then we’ll take the foods that symbolize all good things

And we’ll dip the apples in the honey. Chorus…
