Angel From Heaven

Angel From Heaven
Written by Lenny Solomon

On a Tuesday night ’bout 11:30 pm in Ramat Eshkol
Finished a gig and was ready to go home
Then my car broke down and I was left alone, stranded in the middle of the night
Needed someone to come along and help me out.

Few blocks away found a gas station open twenty-four hours a day
But it was deserted, there was no one in sight
Saw a couple a kids hanging out on the curb, but their laughter rang out in the night
Six weeks in the country didn’t have a clue.

I needed an angel from heaven to help me from this plight
An angel from heaven on this warm summer night
Angel from heaven come now and do your deed
Angel from heaven this is my time of need.

Outta the blue in the corner, I saw a bearded man
He had a big kipah, bending over his bike
He coulda told me get away from here, get away from me right now
Walked over to my car, started helping me out.

No problem I heard him say, as he started to work
Spent the next hour working on my car
Pretty soon I was ready to go, the man got me on my way
I looked at him with a smile and then I said.

I needed an angel from heaven to come and do his deed
Angel from heaven to help me in time of need
Angel from heaven put his own needs on the side
Angel from heaven, very hard to find.

Said to him If you hadn’t come, I’d still be in a bind
I’d like to give you some money for helping me out
He said I did this in the name of heaven I didn’t expect to get paid
But I have a lot a debts and I wouldn’t refuse if you gave.

So I took out a hundred shekel gave it to him and said
Here’s something for your kind act of Chesed
He said with this money we’ll make a pact, a pact with heaven above
The Messiah will come with these selfless acts of love.

He was an angel from heaven he came and did his deed
Angel from heaven helped me in time of need
Angel from heaven put his own needs on the side
Angel from heaven, very hard to find.
